About the Temple
A Kerala Temple in the Sahyadri Hills
Shilar Ayyappa Temple — HariHara Puthra Devasthan — is a traditional Kerala-style Lord Ayyappa Temple located in the peaceful village of Shilar near Neral / Karjat in Maharashtra.
The temple has been constructed following traditional Kerala temple architecture by skilled temple craftsmen from Kerala — hand-carved teak, copper roofing and a sanctum built to Kerala Tantric principles.
Dedicated to Lord Hariharaputra Ayyappa, the temple serves as a spiritual destination for devotees across India, where the fragrance of camphor, the light of the deepam and the sound of the temple bell greet every visitor.

A Devotee's Offering
This sacred temple is the dream and spiritual offering of Shri Sudheer Soman Nair, a lifelong devotee of Lord Ayyappa who has been visiting Sabarimala since the age of five.
Inspired by divine guidance and unwavering devotion, he dedicated himself to creating a Kerala-style Ayyappa Temple where devotees could experience peace, spirituality and the divine presence of Lord Ayyappa.

Devotees looking for a Kerala-style Ayyappa temple near Karjat or an Ayyappa temple near Neral reach Shilar within a short drive of Neral and Karjat railway stations on the Central Railway line. Families from Khopoli, Panvel and Navi Mumbai come by road via the Mumbai–Pune highway.
The Prathistha of HariHara Puthra Devasthan was performed on 22 January 2024 by our Tantris Shri Rajesh Kambaram and Shri Sudeesh Kambaram, and daily poojas are performed by Melsanthi Shri Arun Namboothiri. The shrine was shaped by temple shilpi Shri Sunil Babu, and built as an offering by Shri Sudheer Soman Nair with his family and friends.
